WebMay 17, 2010 · Here's what I've read: Yellow dot is light spot (balance) on tire. When there is a yellow and a red dot, the yellow is the light spot (balance), the red is the high spot (roundness). Conventional wisdom was that the dot goes next to the valve, but I think, if you know your wheel is heavy somewhere other than the valve, it should go there. Dan B. WebBest to clean that so the tire seals against the rim. Some tires have installation marks/dots. If you are unsure what the dots mean do an internet search. For example, Metzeler has one or two red dots that indicate the lightest part of the tire. Align the red dot(s) with the valve stem and/or the heaviest part of the rim.

WebApr 25, 2008 · Other brands of tires I have mounted have a red or yellow dot or triangle that indicates the light point on the tire, or "balance mark". I can't find any such mark on these Michelins that would give me any balancing guidance. Perhaps it's the bar code label found near the bead of each tire -- don't know for sure.
